Support
GoodNight is made by one person. There is no ticket queue and no support bot — you write to me, and I answer.
I usually reply within a couple of days.
What to put in the email
None of this is required — write in whatever form suits you. But these four things turn “it froze” into something I can actually chase:
- Your iPhoneModel and iOS version, from Settings → General → About.
- Where it happenedWhich routine was on screen, and what you had tapped just before.
- Time of nightThe app behaves differently before bed and at 3am, so this matters more than it sounds.
- What you expectedEven one line. “It should have ended after 5 minutes” is enough to point me at the right code.
If the app has closed unexpectedly, its Settings screen grows a Diagnostics section with a Copy report button. That report names the routine that was running and is recorded on your phone only — nothing is sent anywhere unless you paste it into an email yourself.
Things people ask
There’s no sound. Is it broken?
No — that is the app. GoodNight has no audio at all: no music, no white noise, no narration. It is built for the person who shares a bed, or who doesn’t want to fall asleep on an earbud. Your volume and Silent switch make no difference to it.
How do I delete everything the app knows about me?
Open Settings inside the app and scroll to the bottom: Delete my data, behind a confirmation. It erases your name, your sleep clock, your preferences and your entire night history from the phone. Deleting the app does the same thing.
Because none of it is ever sent anywhere, there is nothing for me to delete at my end and nothing for me to look up on your behalf.
What do I get for free?
All of it. Version 1 is free with every routine unlocked, no ads and nothing to buy.
The text is too small to read in the dark.
Settings → Text size has four steps, from Small to Larger, and every screen in the app scales with it. The app is deliberately dim rather than bright, so if you’re straining, try turning that up before turning the screen brightness up.
Can I change my bedtime, or what keeps me up?
Yes. Settings → Sleep clock sets your bedtime and wake time, which is what the app uses to decide whether it is a wind-down, a lights-out, or a 3am wake. What keeps you up in the same screen re-weights which routines you are offered.
Does it need an internet connection?
Never. The app makes no network requests of any kind, so it works identically in Airplane Mode. Nothing syncs, which also means nothing carries over if you move to a new phone.
Will there be an Android version?
Possibly. The engine can build for Android, and iPhone is simply where it started. If you want one, email me — that is genuinely how the decision gets made.
Can GoodNight help me with insomnia?
It is not a medical device and makes no claim to diagnose, treat or cure anything. What it does is give you something quiet to do instead of lying there checking the time. If your sleep has been bad for weeks, that is worth a conversation with a doctor, not an app.
What it needs
- DeviceiPhone. Not built for iPad.
- iOS14.0 or later.
- AccountNone. There is nothing to sign up for.
- NetworkNone. The app never connects to anything.
- PermissionsNone requested — no notifications, camera, microphone, photos, location or health data.
Your data never reaches me
Everything GoodNight remembers stays in the app’s own storage on your iPhone. There is no account, no analytics and no server. The privacy policy lists exactly what is stored, where it lives and how to erase it.
